Verstappen Spoke Up And Admitted Costly “MISTAKES” At The Austrian GP

Max Verstappen has admitted he made costly “mistakes” last weekend at the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix, as he aims for a comeback at Silverstone.

The current world champion was aiming for victory at Red Bull’s home race, before being judged to have caused a collision with Lando Norris in the final stages. Verstappen and Norris suffered significant injuries from the collision, forcing both drivers to pit. As a result, Verstappen finished in fifth place, despite also being given a 10-second penalty. It ended what was arguably a perfect week for the reigning world champion, who had led every session leading up to the race. His focus is now on scoring big at the British Grand Prix, another home race for Red Bull.

“This is another home race for the Team, so we want to make everyone at the factory proud this weekend,” said Verstappen. “Austria’s result was not what we expected and there were a lot of takeaways from the race that the Team and I can really analyze and work on improving. “There were some mistakes in the race that really cost us, however, we have to look at the great moments we had throughout the week, including winning the Sprint and taking first place twice. “We are analyzing what we did right as well as what we did wrong and this is the last race in a very busy three-race series, so we want to get back fighting at Silverstone.”
