Tyson Fury Sparks Backlash From Boxing Fans After Revealing Oleksandr Usyk’s ‘Mistake’ Ahead Of Rematch Earlier This Year

Tyson Fury has been mercilessly mocked by boxing fans after saying Oleksandr Usyk made a ‘mistake’ by failing to finish him off in their fight earlier this year.

Back in May, the Gypsy King lost to his Ukrainian rival via split decision.

Fury was, in truth, fortunate to make it that far – having been wobbled by Usyk in the ninth round.

Writing on his Instagram, the 36-year-old has fired shots at his rival and said he made a ‘mistake’ by failing to finish the job.

He said: “You had your shot but couldn’t finish the job! Mistake! Now your(sic) about to feel the wrath of a menace!

“F**k @usykaa f**k @klimasmanagement f**k @alex.krassyuk & if your down with usyk then f**k you2!

“Gypsy king 2024 coming for you! dec21 is mine me against the world incoming 3x heavyweight champ!”

Yet many fans have now mocked Fury for his comments, reminding him that Usyk was superior during their showdown five months ago.

“Couldn’t finish the job? Pretty sure his job was to win the fight,” said one user.

A second said: “To say all this after getting absolutely dismantled by Usyk in the first fight is wild.”

A third user said: “I have always loved you Tyson and respected you a lot but the only reason Usyk didnt finish the job is because the ref saved you… you and ref robbed Usyk of KO.”

Another wrote: “He finished up the job well. The ref for no any genuine reason stopped the fight and allowed you for any reason best known to him. Go watch the fight again, Usyk will be more clinical this time. That guy is a war lord. He’s 101 per cent fit!”

A fifth said: “You should respect any man willing to fight you. Usyk won. Be humble. Learn from it.”

A sixth said: “Let’s see how this ages after the fight.”

And a seventh user wrote: “Fury just take the L bro.”

Fury was recently asked about his training as he prepares to do battle with Usyk for a second time.

And the Briton revealed he was ready to delay his return to camp as he looks to get the better of his opponent second time around.

“I haven’t started training yet,” he said.

“I won’t go into camp for a good while. I think I’ve got 13 weeks today until my fight.

“So, I’ll probably start training in about six weeks for it.

“I do about six/seven weeks of training for these fights usually and I’ll be ready to rock and roll on the night.

“Roll on December 21, come on!”
