Trainer Robert García Predicts That Canelo Vs. Crawford Will Happen After The Latest Fights: “he Will Take Control.”

Trainer Robert García Predicts Canelo vs. Crawford After Recent Fights: “He Will Take Control”

Terence Crawford continues his quest for Saul ‘Canelo’ Álvarez.

‘Bud’ Crawford recently joined Álvarez in the elite club of four-weight world champions but is not content to stay in the super welterweight division. Instead, he aims to jump up two weight classes to challenge Canelo in the super middleweight category.

Although Canelo is not very interested in the fight, he has stated that he will listen to offers. He previously mentioned that he would receive little credit for defeating a smaller opponent.

In statements to Fight Hub TV, acclaimed trainer Robert García had no problem with Crawford pursuing greatness given all he has achieved so far.

“I think it’s the fight that Terence Crawford is looking for. It’s the most important fight for him. He has done so much in boxing that he doesn’t need to challenge himself against anyone else. If there’s a fight with Canelo, he’ll take it because it’s a big prize for him, and if not, I don’t think he’ll fight again. I don’t think he has to fight anymore. He has already achieved a lot; he’s set for life. He’s a smart man. He doesn’t waste his money like other fighters do. He lives a normal life, has his family, children, and takes care of everyone around him.”

However, García, basing his prediction on Crawford’s recent victory over Israil Madrimov and Canelo’s against Edgar Berlanga, feels that the Mexican’s strength may be too much for the American to overcome.

“It will be a good fight. I probably don’t see him winning, but I do see him putting up a good six or eight rounds. I think those first six rounds would be very close; maybe Crawford would be ahead. I think he could win some rounds against Canelo.

Terence is very strong, both physically and mentally… I think Canelo’s power and strength in the later rounds is where Crawford starts to get into trouble.”

Crawford is currently in negotiations with Sebastian Fundora for a super welterweight unification fight. Canelo is scheduled to return next May.
