Nicki Minaj is facing legal pressure in a $150 million court battle over her father’s death, as revealed exclusively by In Touch. 

Charles Polevich, the driver accused of the hit-and-run that killed Nicki’s father, Robert Maraj, in February 2021, has alleged that Minaj has ignored multiple requests to sit for a deposition. According to court documents, Polevich’s team served Minaj with a request in July, offering to conduct the deposition virtually or during her New York visit on September 7, 2024. However, they claim she has not responded.

Polevich’s lawyer has expressed frustration, noting, “To date, no response has been received from the non-party witness, and it is apparent that the non-party witness does not intend to cooperate and voluntarily provide testimony that is material to the defense of this action.” They have requested the court’s assistance to compel Minaj’s cooperation.

Polevich is seeking to question Minaj about her childhood and previous claims she made in interviews about her father’s alleged abuse of her mother. He argues that this information is crucial for his defense, given that Carol Maraj, Nicki’s mother, is suing for $150 million, claiming the loss of Robert’s “comfort” and “companionship.”

Minaj’s legal team has countered that she should not be compelled to testify, as she is not a party to the lawsuit and arguing that any testimony about her lyrics—which could be fabricated or taken out of context—would be irrelevant and potentially harassing.

The judge overseeing the case has ruled that Nicki’s lyrics are “directly relevant” to the lawsuit, allowing Polevich to request her deposition. Despite this, Minaj has yet to comply. The judge has not yet responded to Polevich’s request for court assistance.
