An ongoing archaeological dig by the Norton Disney History and Archaeology Group at Brills Farm in Norton Disney is revealing significant new insights into the area’s history. Volunteers from Norton Disney, Carlton Le Moorland, Bassingham, Collingham, and beyond have unearthed a variety of Roman and Iron Age artifacts. These discoveries include Roman pottery, building materials, and evidence of Iron Age activities. Notably, the excavation has confirmed the presence of a second Roman settlement in Norton Disney, distinct from the previously known Roman Villa located off Folly Lane.
