The price of the F1 McLaren racing car driven by Hamilton is only lower than Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2001.
The McLaren MP4-25A driven by Lewis Hamilton and won at the 2010 Turkish GP was sold last weekend as part of the British GP race. The final price given was 6.6 million USD.
This is Hamilton’s first F1 car publicly offered for sale. Besides the Turkish GP, the car with chassis number 01 was also used by the British racer at the Chinese GP and finished in 2nd place. This McLaren MP4-25A is the second most expensive F1 ever auctioned, after Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2001. The former F1 driver’s car had a selling price in 2017 of $7.5 million.
Last weekend, F1 fans around the world continuously gave conflicting opinions between the accidents of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen at the British GP. At turn 9 on the Silverstone track, Hamilton’s front wheel collided with Verstappen’s rear wheel, causing the Red Bull driver to be thrown off the track and unable to continue the race.
Despite a 10-second stoppage penalty, Lewis Hamilton still finished in first place. Winning the British GP helped Hamilton close the gap with the leading driver, Max Verstappen, to 8 points.
