Surprised By Late Change To Austrian Grand Prix Starting Grid

Max Verstappen will start with his 40th career pole position at the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix – and will once again share the front row with Lando Norris. Verstappen was “in a league of his own” in qualifying according to Norris, finishing 0.404 seconds ahead of McLaren to continue through the weekend.

George Russell will start third after Oscar Piastri was penalized for breaking track limits and dropped from P3 to seventh – a decision he called “disgraceful”. Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton was fifth – the meat in the Ferrari sandwich with Carlos Sainz fourth and Charles Leclerc seventh. Sunday morning there was a late change to the starting grid as Zhou Guanyu placed 20th and slowest, with Stake deciding to break parc ferme’s rules to change his set-up, meaning he would start starting from pit-lane.

Check out the full starting grid for the 2024 Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix below!

NOTE: The grid remains provisional until officially confirmed by the FIA.
