Russell ‘Angry’ Seeks Answers From Mercedes After ‘Disaster’ At Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying When He Crashed In Q1

George Russell is “angry” and wants to negotiate with Mercedes after a “total disaster” at the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying round when he crashed in Q1. In the first segment of the dry-wet-dry qualifying round, Russell’s Mercedes was eliminated in Q1 and he will start in the highest position of 17th after taking first place in his last start. at Silverstone.

Russell did not have enough fuel in his W15 to complete the final lap after Sergio Perez’s serious accident forced the car to stop as the light rain cleared.
This meant Russell had no chance of completing his best lap in the driest conditions as others in the drop zone such as Valtteri Bottas and Daniel Ricciardo climbed higher up the rankings to achieve sufficient times. good for Q2. On the radio, Russell took responsibility for the disqualification but was keen to talk to Mercedes about why his car didn’t have enough fuel at the crucial moment.

Russell shared with the media, including RacingNews365: “You can never take your eyes off the goal, and our whole team needs to sit together to understand what is going on.” “We have a car that can fight for the top three, we shouldn’t be out of Q1 and Lewis is only in Q3. “I’m really angry now because we have such a fast car and we can’t miss opportunities like this. “In the end, it was the fastest race and we had no fuel left in the car to finish the race. I don’t understand what happened, and it was a complete disaster.”

Russell’s own fault
When detailing his first run in Q1, Russell explained that he miscalculated the weather, leading to having to cancel the race when conditions were at their best. “At first, I didn’t think it would rain anymore so I just thought the track would go faster,” he explained. “I was slow on the first lap and it suddenly started raining, and that was the most important lap.”
