A daring couple have broken the Guinness record for balancing walking on a tightrope across an active volcano.
Rafael Bridi from Brazil and Alexander Schulz from Germany worked together on the adventurous challenge of balancing on a rope over an active volcano.
Located on Tana Island, the volcano is 361 meters above sea level and has been erupting continuously since 1774.
Guinness World Records shared a breathtaking video capturing two men’s attempt to complete the challenge. The cable is tied tightly at both ends, spanning the crater and the two men’s challenge is to balance walking from one end to the other.
Both trekked 42 meters above the crater of Mount Yasur.
The rope connecting the two ends uses polyester cables or straps instead of ropes. Furthermore, any movement causes the rope to swing.
Rafael Bridi is not afraid of heights. In fact, he likes this. Rafael is passionate about the outdoors, connecting with nature and embarking on exciting adventures.
Rafael said: “The feeling of flying and freedom is one of the biggest motivations for practicing to conquer new challenges.”
The mantra Rafael often uses is to focus on breathing. This gives him a feeling of alertness and drives away negative thoughts.
To prepare for extraordinary heights, Rafael trains 2-3 days per week, he even uses a 100 meter long slack line at home to practice. He also combines his training with other sports including Yoga, meditation, surfing, cycling, jiu-jitsu and rock climbing.
Rafael hopes his achievements will inspire people around the world to believe in their dreams.
Rafael Bridi is also the Guinness record holder for walking 18 meters on a rope connecting two hot air balloons suspended at an altitude of 1,900 meters. Rafael’s next goal is to balance walk 6,000 meters above the Andes Mountains. At the same time, he also hopes to break another record in the near future.
