Ralf Schumacher has accused his ex-wife of ‘spreading lies’ after she said she ‘felt used’ in their marriage, with the German also leaking messages online.
Schumacher recently announced he was gay, with the former F1 star revealing he was in a relationship with a man.
Over the weekend, his ex-wife Cora claimed she had ‘wasted her best years’ with Schumacher, with the pair previously married for 14 years.
Cora said she felt ‘stabbed in the heart’ and only learned about the news on social media.
Yet Ralf has now furiously hit back, publishing screenshots of an alleged exchange between his partner, Etienne, and his former wife.
The messages show Cora apparently congratulating Etienne on his relationship with Ralf.
She says the words ‘congrats’ and ‘so happy for you both’, while also revealing she’d initially thought the pair had got married.
Ralf, writing on Instagram, then brutally accused Cora of ‘spreading lies’.
“With all the back and forth, I would like to make it clear that Cora congratulated us in September (beginning of October) 2023 because she thought we had gotten married,” he said.
“She was also happy. As you can see from this message to Etienne personally.
“I think it’s a shame for Etienne and me that she spreads so many lies.
“We both just want to be left alone.”
Cora has since responded, blasting her ex-husband.
She wrote on her own Instagram, saying: “How pathetic does a person have to be to illegally publish private WhatsApp messages in order to conceal the truth?
“And you have been seriously suing me for ten years, claiming that I am not protecting your personal rights, while you shamelessly violate mine, instead of just approaching me and at least telling me the truth now.”
Cora also says Schumacher initially introduced Etienne as his assistant, rather than his partner.
“The WhatsApp was my last attempt to at least find out the truth from him,” she said.
Schumacher and Etienne have been together for two years, having previously met in Monaco.
The former F1 star’s son, David, expressed support for his father when he came out as gay earlier in the year.
“I am very happy that you have finally found someone with whom you really feel that you feel very comfortable and secure, no matter if they are a man or a woman,” the 22-year-old wrote on social media.
“I am 100 per cent behind you dad and wish you all the best and congratulations.”
