The latest development for Christian McCaffrey doesn’t seem positive
Concern was being built for San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey before the 2024 NFL season even started, and nothing has quelled those concerns just yet.
After being placed on the injured reserve and missing the start of the season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that McCaffrey is now heading to Germany in order to meet with a specialist and try to figure out a path forward to deal with his Achilles tendonitis.
There is not yet a timetable for McCaffrey’s return to the field, but many fans — and fantasy football managers — have expressed some concern about the measures that are being taken in order for the All-Pro RB to get healthy.
A photo of McCaffrey started to circulate on Sunday of the RB waiting to hop on a flight to Munich, which made fans start to wonder. Now we are in full-fledged concern mode with the news becoming official.
Got this text from a buddy that Christian McCaffrey was on his flight to Munich yesterday from SFO. Is he going to get the Kobe treatment? 🤔🤔🤔 pic.twitter.com/JX5OegJoEG

Beyond the news that McCaffrey is seeking medical expertise in Germany, we don’t have any more information on the story. As of this moment, McCaffrey is still on the IR and unable to return to the field until the 49ers designate him as playable. But if we are going to such extreme measures as visiting doctors in other countries, a speedy return doesn’t seem imminent.
