McLaren has signed yet another major sponsorship deal, adding Mastercard to its roster – while Mercedes also appears to be vying for the global payments company. McLaren has added another major company to its sponsorship list, global payments company Mastercard.
This is a multi-year deal and Mastercard is described by the team as the “title sponsor”. Mastercard branding will appear on McLaren F1 cars later in the season.
Rival racing team Mercedes were also in talks to sign a deal with Mastercard, but appear to have been beaten to it by the Woking-based team. “Mastercard is a great brand with an iconic red and yellow logo that is instantly recognizable anywhere in the world,” said McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown.
“Mastercard shares our absolute passion for providing fans with amazing experiences and the opportunity to truly feel part of our growing global racing community – and we are delighted to welcome them to the McLaren Racing family.”
Meanwhile, Mastercard chief marketing and communications officer Raja Rajamannar added: “We continuously explore new ways to deliver value to our customers and cardholders. Bringing them closer to their passion, what they love most, is at the heart of this, and racing has become one of the most exciting, most popular passions globally.
