McLaren chief executive Zak Brown has highlighted the fundamental difference between Lando Norris and rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton when it comes to dominating F1. Norris often claims that to beat Verstappen he needs to be at 100% in every race, but he often finds himself 1% behind Verstappen.
This case happened in Austria during the sprint race, specifically when Norris had a great handling at turn 3 against the Red Bull driver, leaving only a chance for Verstappen to respond at turn 4, From there he easily won.
A week later at the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone, Norris chose the wrong tire when changing conditions forced the drivers to switch from alternating tires to slicks.
As a result, this 24-year-old racer chose soft tires instead of medium tires. Soft tires caused him to fall into Verstappen’s hands and finish third. With the rear tyre, he could have beaten Hamilton to the finish line. Sharing his opinion on Norris’ current standing, speaking to the media, including RacingNews365, Brown said: “To win the Formula 1 world championship, everyone needs to be 100 % performance.
“I think Lando is learning every time he goes out there. He benefits from a win. Max, Lewis and Schumacher, when you win as much as they do, it gives you a lot of experience . “Lando is still gaining experience winning grand prix events, I think that’s great because the only way to do that is to be persistent, and I think he’ll continue to improve. “As a rider, I think he is fully capable of winning the world championship – right now. But that doesn’t mean he can’t get better. “I think Max is a better driver today than he was the first year, the second year of the championship, so I think these drivers will continually improve their game.”
