Max Verstappen’s father Jos has reignited his feud with Red Bull team principal Christian Horner.

Jos Verstappen has been highly critical of Horner in the past and was left frustrated after the Dutch Grand Prix when his son’s winless streak extended to five races.

Lando Norris won by 22 seconds, after which Verstappen’s father asked Red Bull to analyse their mistakes.

Verstappen Snr admitted that his son would not be happy with the car he was driving.

Jos Verstappen told BILD: ‘Internally, you should look in the mirror and not always take things for granted.

‘It’s time – if it’s not already too late – to ask ourselves.

‘Good people are leaving the team. I’m very unhappy with what’s happening.’

‘Max wouldn’t be happy with a car like that. Now Horner has to get the team back on track.’

Asked if he believes Horner can turn things around at Red Bull, Jos replied: ‘I would be surprised, but at the moment I say no.

‘A lot has to happen. The whole mentality has to change.’

In June, Verstappen Snr claimed that Horner had blocked him from taking part in the legends parade ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, an offer that was rejected. Verstappen Snr reportedly refused to shake Horner’s hand when they met in the team’s hospitality area.

Verstappen Snr has been a frequent critic of Horner since Horner was accused of sending coercive text messages to a female colleague. Horner was cleared following an internal investigation.

In March, Verstappen Snr claimed that Red Bull would “explode” if Horner remained in charge.

‘There is tension here as he remains in the same position,’ he said. ‘The team is in danger of splitting. It can’t go on like this. It will implode. He is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problem.’
