Max Verstappen has fired back at Lando Norris’ jab, suggesting he should try comedy, with a forceful response of his own. The two drivers were locked in a fierce battle for the title this season, which saw Red Bull take an early advantage, allowing Verstappen to build a commanding lead over his rivals.
The Dutchman’s dominance continued until F1 reached Miami, where a rare reliability issue in Melbourne was the only blemish on his record. However, McLaren’s improvements, particularly in Miami, allowed Lando Norris and his team to close the gap on Red Bull.
As the season wore on, it became apparent that Verstappen no longer had the fastest car on the grid. Nonetheless, the experienced driver managed his lead expertly, eventually securing his fourth consecutive championship in Las Vegas. After the victory, Verstappen was asked whether he believed he could have won the title in Lando Norris’ McLaren, to which he confidently replied that he would have won it even earlier.
Norris, clearly not pleased with Verstappen’s comments, responded by saying the Red Bull driver should consider a career in comedy. When asked about Norris’ remark, Verstappen gave a sharp reply, stating that he was perfectly aware of his abilities and didn’t need to entertain such comments.
“I know perfectly well what I can and cannot do,” Verstappen told the media, brushing off any need to engage further on the topic. “No one needs to respond. The championship is done. We move on and focus on next year.”
As for whether Norris showed grace in defeat, Verstappen avoided the question entirely, saying, “We don’t need to talk about that. The championship is finished. There’s no point in trying to slag anyone off.”
Norris, when asked about Verstappen’s comments that he could have won the title in a McLaren, didn’t hold back. He humorously suggested that Verstappen might be better off pursuing comedy, saying, “He should start doing comedy or something. He can say whatever he wants. I completely disagree with him, as I would.”
While Verstappen and Norris have shared a friendly relationship off the track, the fierce title fight this season has added some tension between them. Fans will certainly be watching how their dynamic evolves as the new season approaches.
