Lil Wayne Pauses Podcast for Heartwarming Goodnight Call from 13-Year-Old Son Kameron
Rapper Lil Wayne, 40, showcased his dedication to fatherhood during a live recording of Matt Barnes’ “All the Smoke” podcast, when he received a call from his 13-year-old son, Kameron. Just as the podcast began, Wayne apologized to the hosts, saying, “I’m so sorry, one second. That’s Killa, that’s Kam, he’s going to sleep.” Demonstrating his commitment to his children, he paused the interview to say goodnight to Kameron, who affectionately calls him “boss man.”
Barnes quickly chimed in with, “Daddy duty don’t ever stop,” acknowledging Wayne’s fatherly responsibilities. The rapper bid his son goodnight with, “Goodnight, boy, I love you,” and checked on his younger son Kross, 6, who Kameron’s mother, Lauren London, shares with the late Nipsey Hussle. Wayne mentioned, “They got a picture of his daddy on the wall looking just like him,” and promised to send a photo for Kameron to show his younger brother.
Wayne, who shares a close bond with all of his children, has spoken openly about the challenges of fatherhood, having grown up without a father figure himself. In the interview, he emphasized how crucial his role as a dad is, noting, “That’s life. How food is essential to life.” Reflecting on his own upbringing, Wayne admitted that fatherhood was challenging at first, but through love, all the difficulties have been erased. He said, “Now that I’ve figured it out, it’s no longer a challenge for me at this age. It was difficult in the past. But their love takes away all the challenges.”
In addition to Kameron and Kross, Lil Wayne is also the father of three other children: Dwayne Carter III, 14, Reginae Carter, 24, and Neal, 13. His dedication to being a loving father has resonated with fans, who appreciate seeing this softer side of the rap icon
