Vegans have flooded Lewis Hamilton’s social media with complaints after the F1 driver shared an image of himself on a camel in Morocco.

The 39-year-old has been enjoying some much-needed time off from Formula One, with the next Grand Prix due to take place in the Netherlands on August 25.

Hamilton has jetted away and has taken to Instagram to share some snaps of himself and his inner circle.

The Mercedes star, who will leave for Ferrari at the end of the campaign, has posted various images of some scenery from his time in Morocco.

But Hamilton has faced a furious backlash from vegans, with many criticising the F1 star for sitting on a camel, having previously turned to veganism back in 2017.

“Vegans don’t ride animals or support animal cruelty. What a shame, Lewis!” said one user.

“Why are sitting on a camels back? Vegans don’t sit on animals. Very disappointed,” fumed a second.

“Please don’t exploit camels, thought you were vegan,” were the words of a third.

Another said: “Vegan on top of a camel?”

A fifth fan said: “Save them. They are not machines!”

And a sixth raged: “It’s very sad that you’re riding a camel @lewishamilton. Aren’t you against animal exploitation? Find out how they are treated.”

Hamilton endured a difficult start to the current F1 season, with Max Verstappen impressing at the start of the campaign.

But the Mercedes star has been able to turn things around, with Hamilton now a dark horse for the title.

The F1 icon defied the odds to win the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 7, with the Briton finishing ahead of Verstappen and Lando Norris.

Last time out, in Belgium, George Russell looked to have beaten his team-mate to glory.

Yet Hamilton was given the victory, with Russell disqualified after his car was found to be underweight.
