LeBron James is making it clear he’s not among the skeptics of Caitlin Clark.
On Friday night, James watched as Caitlin Clark led the Indiana Fever to a decisive 100-81 victory over the Chicago Sky, delivering a standout performance with 31 points and 12 assists. The rookie sensation, who is widely expected to be named Rookie of the Year, continues to impress.
“CAITLIN CLARK!!!!! HI HATERS,” James exclaimed in a post on X, showcasing his support for the rising star.
Clark has been making waves all season, recently breaking the rookie record for most three-pointers in WNBA history. She’s also set the league’s single-game assist record, boasts the most assists by a rookie, and achieved the first rookie triple-double in WNBA history.
With their win on Friday, the Fever improved to 16-16, securing sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
“This was a significant win for us,” Clark shared with reporters. “In a tight playoff race, every game matters, especially against a direct competitor. We aimed to win the season series, and after letting a lead slip last time, it was important for us to prove our resilience and capabilities tonight.”
Clark’s consistent performances are creating a gap between her and Angel Reese in the race for Rookie of the Year. Despite the initial competition, Clark is making a strong case for the award with her recent displays.
There was some controversy when Clark was excluded from the Olympic team roster. However, even Dawn Staley, a member of the selection committee, acknowledged during the Games that Clark’s omission was questionable given her talents.
Those who doubted Clark’s ability to transition to professional competition are being proven wrong game by game. And with LeBron James, one of the greatest basketball players today, openly backing her, Clark’s standing and reputation continue to rise in the basketball world
