After arriving in the United States to support his racing team during the first stop of the 2025 season at the MotoGP Americas Grand Prix in COTA, Jorge Martin has received positive results from a medical check-up, fueling hopes of a potential return to the track in Qatar.

The check-up took place on Tuesday morning and was conducted by Dr. Xavier Mir and the surgical team responsible for the world championâs left-hand surgery on February 25. In a statement to Motorsport.com, Dr. Mir shared, âThe clinical examination and X-rays of the scaphoid, radius, and lunate fractures in Jorge MartĂn show good progress, allowing him to start a new phase in his rehabilitation, with the possibility of heading to Qatar to assess how the rider feels and if he can participate in the Grand Prix, always after passing the MotoGP medical check-up.â

The Aprilia rider has been given clearance by doctors to increase the intensity of his training, particularly focusing on cardiovascular exercises and cycling. As a result, Martin is now heading to Doha next week, aiming for his debut with his new team at the 2025 Qatar Formula 1 Grand Prix, the fourth round of the season. If his recovery goes smoothly this week, MartĂn has received the doctorâs approval to travel to Qatar. However, should he feel it necessary, he could opt for one final health check at the Dexeus Clinic next week before departing.

Upon arriving in Qatar, Martin will undergo another medical evaluation at the Losail Circuit, conducted by MotoGPâs Medical Director, Ăngel Charte. Only Charte has the authority to grant him an official license to participate in FP1 on Friday. After that, MartĂn will undergo further evaluations to ensure his readiness.
After the check-up, MartĂn shared a photo on his Instagram story on Tuesday, showing him cycling in Andorra, a small country in the Pyrenees, where he currently resides.
The 2024 MotoGP World Champion with Pramac-Ducati initially suffered an injury on the first day of the preseason testing in Sepang while riding an Aprilia, resulting in a fractured right arm. The incident forced him to undergo surgery on February 7.
After a successful recovery, MartĂn was cleared by doctors to participate in the Thailand Grand Prix. However, on the eve of his departure, he had been practicing on a supermoto bike at a go-kart track in Lleida, where he suffered a serious crash. This accident led to three fractures in his left arm, necessitating a second surgery within less than three weeks.
Martin, who signed a two-year contract with Aprilia in June last year, has yet to make his official race debut with the Noale-based manufacturer.
