Former UFC champion Tyron Woodley believes that Mike Perry needs to focus on two key elements of his game plan when he faces Jake Paul in their upcoming boxing match on July 20 in Tampa, Florida. Perry, known for his success in Bare Knuckle FC, aims to hand Paul his second boxing defeat.
Woodley, who faced Paul twice in 2021, understands the challenge of competing against him firsthand. In a recent interview with The Schmo, Woodley offered advice to Perry based on his experience.
“Be composed and patient,” Woodley advised Perry. “He knows Jake will punch and move. When I fought him, Jake wasn’t just looking for a knockout; he was boxing smart, moving around. Perry needs to watch out for that.”
Woodley emphasized Perry’s ability to fight effectively at close range. “Perry needs to work on getting inside, where he can land body shots, uppercuts, and hooks,” Woodley said. “He has a style similar to Mike Tyson’s, so he should capitalize on that to close the distance effectively.”
Jake Paul, who holds a streak of three consecutive victories, including wins against Nate Robinson and Tyron Woodley, seeks to maintain his momentum in the ring. His latest victory was a knockout against Ryan Bourland in March.
The upcoming match between Paul and Perry promises to be a highly anticipated event, with Perry’s aggressive style posing a unique challenge for Paul to navigate.
