Former F1 driver Martin Brundle has given his verdict on Max Verstappen’s immediate future in F1 with Red Bull amid ongoing speculation over which team he will drive for in 2025.
The Dutchman is contracted to Red Bull until the end of the 2028 F1 season – but has been linked throughout this year with replacing Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.
The rumours stem from Toto Wolff’s public admiration for the three-time world champion and reports of growing discontent with the situation at Red Bull.
The Milton Keynes team have had a controversial start to the year, and while talk of internal strife has died down recently, the constructors’ champion has lost a previously significant lead over the teams behind him.
There has also been talk that he could seek a move if Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko is sacked from the team.
However, according to Brundle, that loophole may now be closed – at least for now, leading the 65-year-old to predict that Verstappen will not want to leave in the coming months.
“There was speculation that Max Verstappen could leave the team if Helmut Marko left Red Bull,” the 65-year-old told Sky Sports F1 .
“My understanding is that all that paperwork has changed and that can’t happen – at least not until 2026. Max is nailed down there.”
