Michael Schumacher’s daughter Gina has tied the knot with her fiancé Iain Bethke at a plush ceremony at the Schumacher’s £27million pad in Majorca but phones were banned
Michael Schumacher’s daughter, Gina, has tied the knot with her fiancé.
Gina shared a loved up snap on her Instagram with Iain Bethke, captioning the post: “Forever yes to you, yes to forever,” adding a love heart emoji. The pair said yes at a sun-soaked luxury villa in Spain Corinna Schumacher bought from Florentino Perez in 2017.
However, according to German outlet BILD, guests had to surrender their phones ahead of the wedding. The outlet claims the family did not want anyone taking unauthorised photos of the property’s private rooms.
Schumacher reportedly spends a lot of time at the villa, which is believed to have been adapted allowing a team of doctors and nurses to provide round-the-clock care.
The former F1 World Champion suffered a serious head injury after a skiing accident in December 2013 in the French Alps, and his condition has since been kept under wraps
Schumacher is regularly flown over to the villa in Port d’Andratx from the family home by Lake Geneva in Switzerland – with the villa having a landing pad. The luxury pad is part of a 15,000 square metre estate which boasts two swimming pools, a gym and a huge palm-tree-fringed garden.
BILD claim that it is “highly-likely” Schumacher was at the ceremony. Guests are said to have included Michael’s brother Ralf and his partner Etienne Bosquet-Cassagne – with the former F1 driver recently coming out as gay.
Willi Weber, 82, who was Schumacher’s manager until 2012, wasn’t on the guest list: “I wasn’t invited, but I wouldn’t have attended the wedding even if I had been invited. My health isn’t good at the moment. I wouldn’t have wanted to fly to Mallorca.
“I wish her the best of luck. And I hope she has found the right man, that’s always important. It’s a game after all. But I hope everything goes well and that she is happy.”
Flavio Briatore’s ex-wife Elisabetta Gregoraci opened up on Schumacher’s condition on the Italian version of Big Brother, she said: “They moved to Spain and his wife has set up a hospital in that house.”
She explained: “Michael doesn’t speak, he communicates with his eyes. Only three people can visit him and I know who they are.”
