Sean O’Malley failed to defend his bantamweight title for a second time, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306. Henry Cejudo, the former double champ who’s long sought a showdown with ‘Suga,’ didn’t hold back in his criticism of O’Malley’s performance and took the opportunity to slam the legitimacy of his UFC 292 title victory over Aljamain Sterling.
Speaking on the Pound 4 Pound podcast alongside Kamaru Usman, Cejudo confidently shared his thoughts:
“I saw this coming. Sean’s not built for five rounds, especially when someone’s constantly on his legs. That win over Aljamain? Total fluke. People thought I was just hating, but I’ve been in there with Merab—Aljamain was still in that fight.”
Cejudo then added:
“I fought Merab too, and I did a whole lot better than Sean did. I even took Merab down. The guy got lucky I had a groin injury… but mark my words, I’m coming back for another run. Sean ‘O’Meth-ly’ got worked for five rounds, and I can’t wait to teach him a lesson.”
Cejudo further claimed that O’Malley’s path to the bantamweight title had been filled with easy matchups, questioning the legitimacy of his reign. Despite their heated online exchanges over the years, Cejudo believes ‘Suga’ will avoid facing him in the Octagon. If that fight doesn’t happen, Cejudo plans to make a move back to flyweight.
Henry Cejudo Fires Back at Sean O’Malley for ‘Bronze Medalist’ Dig
Following O’Malley’s loss at UFC 306, he took to social media to mock Cejudo by calling him a ‘bronze medalist.’ Cejudo, never one to back down, quickly clapped back on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“The only thing you ever won the gold in is being the world’s biggest cuck. You’re so delusional, you should move to Egypt. Maybe grab some of Diddy’s baby oil for that dry v**ina. @SugaSeanMMA”
Cejudo, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling and one of the few UFC double champions, is known for his fiery responses. As No.6-ranked bantamweight, he’s been the loudest voice calling out O’Malley, waiting for his shot to settle the score inside the cage
