The first footage from Mike Perry’s training camp ahead of his fight with Jake Paul has been unveiled. Perry stepped in to replace Mike Tyson for the much-anticipated bout scheduled for July 20th in Tampa, Florida, against the social media star.
In an Instagram clip shared by the former UFC fighter, Perry is seen refining his striking skills with his coach. However, initial reactions to the footage have been less than enthusiastic. Perry, aged 32, has limited experience in traditional boxing, having only fought once in a boxing ring and suffering a fourth-round knockout loss to Kenneth McNeil in 2015. This lack of boxing experience may pose a challenge against Jake Paul, who boasts a record of 9 wins and 1 loss.
Even for Perry’s supporters, the pacing and power of the sparring video haven’t instilled much confidence. Observers noted Perry’s punches appeared lacking in snap and almost seemed to be thrown in slow motion.
