Eddie Hearn, the Matchroom Boxing promoter who’s worked with some of the biggest names in boxing, recently revealed the most talented fighter he’s ever promoted—and it’s not Anthony Joshua or Canelo Alvarez.
Hearn, who’s had a meteoric rise in the boxing world since signing Olympic champion Anthony Joshua, has guided stars like Oleksandr Usyk, Gennady Golovkin, and Katie Taylor. However, none of these legends earned the title of his most talented fighter.
That honor, according to Hearn, goes to his newest signee, Shakur Stevenson. The WBC lightweight champion, a three-weight world champion, recently joined Matchroom after parting ways with Top Rank.
In a talkSPORT interview, Hearn revealed, “Talent-wise it might be Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, but I’d go with Shakur Stevenson. I think he is unbelievable.”
Stevenson was slated to fight Joe Cordina next, but a hand injury sidelined him. After undergoing surgery for a torn sagittal band and collateral ligament, Stevenson is expected to return in early 2025 for a mandatory bout against William Zepeda.
As for Cordina, Hearn is eyeing a domestic clash against British lightweight contenders like Sam Noakes to set up another big fight in the near future.
With Stevenson’s return eagerly awaited, fans are excited to see how Hearn guides the career of the fighter he considers his most talented yet.
