Drake’s producer revealed: The rapper couldn’t hide his joy in the midst of the Kendrick Lamar scandal!
The tension between Drake and Kendrick Lamar hasn’t dampened Drake’s summer spirits. According to Gordo, his collaborator on “Honestly, Nevermind,” the producer has never seen Drake happier.

Gordo, formerly known as Carnage, provided the latest update on the 6 God’s mental state in an interview with People magazine, published on Wednesday (July 24).

“Ever since all this happened… I’ve seen him more cheerful. It’s strange. He’s quite happy,” Gordo shared. “The internet makes people think, ‘Oh, that picture, he looks sad and down.’ It was just a bad photo from a bad camera. But because it’s him, it’s scrutinized like, ‘Oh, look at his eyes. He looks a bit sad. He hasn’t slept.’ But honestly, he’s very joyful. He’s relaxing.”

The Grammy-nominated producer stated that Drake has moved past his conflict with K. Dot and is ready to refocus on himself. “He’s over it,” Gordo added. “The thing is, he just had the longest tour ever. He actually did a tour for about a year. I think he’s just unwinding.”

Billboard reached out to Drake’s representatives for comment.

Fans are eagerly awaiting Drizzy’s next steps this summer. He has recently featured on albums by Sexyy Red and Camila Cabello. Up next, the OVO boss will reunite with Gordo on “Sideways,” set to appear on the producer’s Diamante album, releasing Friday (July 26).

Drake and Gordo share a rich history of collaboration. They’ve worked together on tracks like “Rich Baby Daddy” and “Gently” from “For All the Dogs,” while Gordo earned six production credits on Drake’s 2022 album “Honestly, Nevermind.”

“I’ve never seen anyone value my opinion so highly, and it’s incredible,” Gordo praised Drake’s reliance on his expertise. “It’s great to be appreciated by someone who truly is the greatest to ever do it, at least in our lifetime.”

Stay tuned for more updates on Drake’s upcoming projects and collaborations.
