Daniel Dubois produced a stunning performance to beat Anthony Joshua in a heavyweight showdown at Wembley on Saturday night
Daniel Dubois is “very keen” on a rematch with either Anthony Joshua or Oleksandr Usyk – depending on who “pays me the most”.
Dubois retained his IBF world heavyweight title with a crushing victory over British rival Joshua at Wembley on Saturday night, knocking out the two-time four-time world champion. Joshua released a video on social media on Monday insisting his own journey in boxing is not over, with a potential rematch with Dubois as well as another all-British showdown with Tyson Fury both possible options in the future.
Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren has insisted that while there is no specific clause in the boxer’s contract for a quick rematch with Joshua, they could still go head-to-head again if the right deal is struck. Usyk will face Fury in their own rematch on December 21 for the WBA, WBO and WBC belts.
Dubois was beaten by Usyk in August 2023, but not before the Ukrainian was knocked down in the fifth round by Dubois – only for the punch to be deemed a low blow and the champion given time to recover. The 27-year-old Londoner feels that whoever he faces next in the ring will have to make the payday financially viable for him.
“I would love to have a rematch, but really – whoever pays me the most,” Dubois told talkSPORT.
Speaking about the possibility of facing Joshua again, Dubois said: “Yeah, if it happens later, yes. If it happens next, yes. I want to try. I want to do better next time. I know where I need to improve, so as a champion and a fighter, I just want to prove people wrong all the time and that’s what we did.
“I think I’ll do much better than that (last fight). It was a great performance, a Rocky fight, but I believe next time I’ll be more effective, sharper, everything will be better.”
