Former Real Madrid Star Joselu Believes Young Talents Bellingham and Vinicius Are Not Yet Worthy of Ballon d’Or Compared to Carvajal
Joselu Mato has made his opinion clear on who he believes should win the 2024 Ballon d’Or. According to Joselu, Dani Carvajal, who has clinched both the Euro and Champions League titles, deserves the prestigious award more than any other player, including his former Real Madrid teammates Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.
Carvajal emerged as a standout star for Real Madrid in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund. The 32-year-old’s exceptional performance not only secured Real Madrid’s victory but also continued during his tenure with the Spanish national team at Euro 2024 in Germany, where Spain claimed the championship. These achievements have led Joselu to believe that Carvajal is the most deserving candidate for this year’s Ballon d’Or, surpassing notable names like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, and Rodri.
While Bellingham and Vinicius played pivotal roles in helping Real Madrid secure both La Liga and Champions League titles, their performances at the Euro and Copa America were not as impressive. This gap has opened the door for other contenders like Rodri, who guided Manchester City to a Premier League title and significantly contributed to Spain’s triumph at the Euro.
In an interview with AS, Joselu emphasized his support for Carvajal: “I always say that he [Carvajal] is the most deserving. He has won every possible title, scored goals, became important, and was the MVP in the final (at Wembley)… He deserves it more.”
Currently, Carvajal is expected to rest until the new season begins, having been granted an extended break following his participation in the Euro. He is anticipated to return to training in August when Real Madrid concludes their pre-season tour in the United States.
Carvajal’s consistent performances have not only made him a shining star on the field but also a symbol of hard work and dedication. Should he win the Ballon d’Or, it would be a well-deserved recognition for his relentless efforts throughout the past season.
