Factory Ducati star Marc Marquez continued his flawless 2025 MotoGP campaign by converting pole position into another impressive victory in the Americas Grand Prix sprint race on Saturday. With this win, Marquez extended his unbeaten streak, further solidifying his dominance in the new season.

As has become a trend this year, Marquez’s younger brother, Alex Marquez, was his closest challenger, finishing in second place aboard the Gresini Ducati. While this sibling rivalry has been a recurring theme in 2025, the latest sprint race at Circuit of the Americas provided the most thrilling action yet.

Francesco Bagnaia made a strong return to the podium on the second factory Ducati, offering a reminder of his formidable skills. He made a bold statement right from the start, challenging Marquez by leading multiple times during an electrifying first lap. Bagnaia launched himself into contention with a fantastic start from sixth on the grid, surging into the lead as the riders braked hard into Turn 1.

The opening lap was easily the most exhilarating of the season so far. Marquez quickly fought back, reclaiming the lead at Turn 2, but Bagnaia refused to back down and soon moved ahead once more. The battle between the two factory Ducati stars continued in a breathtaking back-and-forth exchange, with neither rider willing to concede ground.
Just as the fight seemed poised to rage on, Marquez made an uncharacteristic mistake towards the end of the lap. The moment looked set to cost him dearly, but in classic Marquez fashion, he produced one of his trademark saves to stay in contention. This brief misstep allowed Bagnaia and Alex Marquez a chance to seize the advantage, but Marc was not willing to let go of control so easily. Within moments, he was back at the front, crossing the line to begin lap two with Alex Marquez right behind him. From that point on, the six-time MotoGP champion remained unchallenged, steadily managing his pace to secure another win.
Meanwhile, Bagnaia struggled to keep up with the Marquez brothers after the opening exchanges. He soon found himself losing touch with Alex, unable to mount another challenge for the top spots. The order among the leading trio appeared settled from then on, though Alex Marquez continued to push his brother hard, ensuring Marc could not afford to relax. In the end, the top three riders finished within two seconds of each other, emphasizing just how competitive the front of the field was.
While the podium positions remained unchanged, the battle for fourth place produced plenty of drama. The VR46 Racing duo of Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli found themselves engaged in a tense fight with Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo. Quartararo had initially held fourth after a rapid start, but he soon found himself under immense pressure from the VR46 riders. Despite his determined efforts to fend them off, the Frenchman was eventually forced to settle for sixth, finishing behind both di Giannantonio and Morbidelli.
Further back, KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Honda’s Luca Marini emerged as the key winners in a heated midfield contest. Acosta secured seventh place, while Marini claimed eighth, with both riders showcasing strong performances for their respective manufacturers. Their battle had initially included KTM’s Maverick Vinales and Honda’s Joan Mir, but misfortune struck both challengers—Vinales encountered mechanical issues, while Mir crashed out of contention.
The final points-paying position went to Pramac Yamaha’s Ai Ogura, who capitalized on the misfortunes of Vinales and Mir to secure ninth place. It was a well-earned reward for the Japanese rider, who demonstrated resilience in a race filled with incidents.
With another dominant victory under his belt, Marc Marquez’s unbeaten start to the 2025 season remains intact. The reigning champion continues to prove why he is the rider to beat, while his brother Alex has firmly established himself as his closest competitor. Bagnaia’s return to the podium was an encouraging sign, but he will need to find another level if he hopes to seriously challenge Marquez in the coming rounds.
As the MotoGP paddock looks ahead to the next race, the competition only promises to get fiercer. With the Marquez brothers leading the charge, Bagnaia determined to fight back, and an exciting battle unfolding in the midfield, fans can expect plenty more thrilling action as the season progresses.
