Big Sean Teases Unreleased Collaboration with Kanye West Ahead of New Album Release.

Big Sean has previewed an unreleased collaboration with his former label boss Kanye West, just as he prepares to release his new album.The Detroit rapper treated fans to a sneak peek of some previously unheard tracks during an Instagram Live session on Monday, July 15th. Among these was a Kanye-produced song reportedly titled “Fighting Fires.”Sean mentioned that this track might be included in Kanye’s long-delayed album “Vultures 2” with Ty Dolla $ign.

In the snippet, the 36-year-old rapper can be heard spitting, “We in this btch, back focused, right? / Fck a overnight success, I want it more than life / I’m overseeing what I see, fck the oversight / From the other side of the screen like a ghost / I’m in this btch dropping gems like I’m off the ice / They gotta name their son Sean ’cause the boy so bright, right?”

A video clip of Big Sean rapping his verse from the unreleased “Fighting Fires” was shared on Twitter by user @excitebikee on July 16, 2024.Sean also hinted at new music dropping this week when a fan asked about the expected release date.

The “Bounce Back” MC shared the challenges of working on his new album while being away from his one-year-old son, currently on tour with his girlfriend, Jhené Aiko, and staying sober.

“I’ve been having a tough time, man, I won’t lie,” he admitted. “I’ve been in this b*tch [studio] trying to finish this album, and it’s been exhausting because of all the overthinking. By the way, I’ve been trying to stay sober so a black man can feel his emotions, you know what I mean?

“No cap, I stopped drinking in 2022 because that sht was just making me crazy. Mentally, that sht is a depressant, so if you’re dealing with any anxiety like I do — I’m always thinking about what I gotta do, how I gotta do it, what’s next, all that.”

He added, “You know what I love about this album? It captures so many different sides of me. It’s multifaceted, just like I am. I meditate every morning, but I also keep a strap in the studio — not a strap; I keep a gun. [This album] really represents what I’ve been going through these past few years.”

Sean emphasized that his upcoming project represents his “best music” and, although it features “some dope collaborations,” it will be more solo-focused compared to his previous works.

The reunion of Big Sean and Kanye West marks a significant turn of events after their public fallout in 2021.West had appeared on Drink Champs, stating that signing Sean to GOOD Music was “the worst thing” he ever did.”Let me tell you,” West said. “When I die, on my tombstone it’s gonna say, ‘I deserve to be here because I signed Big Sean.'”

“I know this man’s mom. I changed this man’s family. And both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quickly by the Democrats to come at their boy who actually changed their lives, and that’s some sellout sh*t. And I don’t rock with neither of them, and I need an apology from them.”

Sean responded by claiming that Kanye owed him several million dollars and added, “I love Kanye, man. I love him for the opportunity he gave me, and all that. But I think what he said was some btch a** sht.”
