Anthony Joshua Explains Why He Left Home And Stopped Living With His Mother
British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has confirmed that he has finally moved out of his mother’s house ahead of his fight with Daniel Dubois in September. Unlike most other super-rich celebrities, Joshua chose to live in the same apartment with his Nigerian mother, Yeta, in North London.
When asked why he chose to stay with his mother at the age of 34 despite having a net worth of over £100 million, Joshua explained that living with his mother allowed him to spend quality time with her whenever he was in London.
However, in an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Anthony Joshua confirmed that he has finally moved out of the apartment. Reports indicate that the two-time former world heavyweight champion has relocated to his mansion in the London area.
Explaining his decision to move out, Joshua said he has made solid arrangements to ensure his mother is well taken care of in his absence.
“I didn’t want to leave my mother alone,” AJ said. “I wanted to make sure my mother’s foundation—a solid home—is secure so that when I leave, she will be okay. For me, it’s about freedom. Knowing that wherever I am in the world, my mother is happy and well looked after.”
Anthony Joshua is set to attempt to become a world champion once again when he faces fellow British heavyweight Daniel Dubois on September 21. The winner of the fight, which will take place at Wembley Stadium in London, will claim the IBF belt.
It has been reported that if Anthony Joshua secures the IBF title this September, he will have a chance to challenge the current heavyweight champion, either Oleksandr Usyk or Tyson Fury, who will be facing the Ukrainian fighter in December.
