Nate Diaz celebrated his inaugural boxing victory on Saturday night by defeating Jorge Masvidal in a highly anticipated rematch held in California. This fight marked their second meeting following their initial clash at UFC 244 in Madison Square Garden.
Their first encounter ended prematurely when Masvidal secured a victory due to a doctor’s stoppage caused by a severe cut on Diaz. However, in their rematch, both fighters engaged in a full ten-round bout, allowing them ample opportunity to showcase their boxing skills without any interruptions. The fight went the distance, in stark contrast to their previous fight.
The judges’ scorecards after the bout sparked controversy, with two judges awarding the victory to Diaz and one scoring it a draw, resulting in Diaz winning by majority decision. After the fight, Diaz wasted no time in calling out Jake Paul.
“I’m gonna beat Jake Paul’s f***ing ass,” Diaz declared. “And I’m ready to face the highest-ranked boxer out there to show people who the f*** he really is. My ultimate goal has always been to become the best fighter in the world, so I aim to return and reclaim the UFC title. Leon Edwards, Jake Paul, and anyone else, you’re all in my sights.”
In response, Jake Paul, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, took to social media, sharing a video of Diaz’s remarks and issuing his own commentary on the fight’s winner.
