Auction house Sotheby’s said the Ferrari that helped Michael Schumacher win five Grand Prix championships in the German legend’s 2003 F1 season will be launched next week and could fetch $9.4 million.

“This car is one of only four cars with more than four wins in Ferrari history and especially with one of the classiest drivers of Michael Schumacher’s generation,” said Vincent Luzuy, assistant to RM Sotheby’s sales director said.

F1 legend Schumacher spent 10 years playing for Scuderia Ferrari, from 1996 to 2006. That was also the golden age of the German driver in F1, parallel to Ferrari’s dominance in this arena.

Before racing at Ferrari, Schumacher won two championships at Benetton (in 1994 and 1995). From 1996-1996, when he was new at Ferrari, but from 2000 onwards, he stood on the podium 5 times in a row, the highest victory of the season.

With continuous victories in the 2000s, Schumacher became a legend. Hundreds of victories, pole positions and championship titles all come from his class, performance and skills as well as the best racing car that the Ferrari team has for its legend.

Still maintaining good performance in the 2006 season, Schumacher lost the championship to Fernando Alonso. At the end of this season, Schumacher decided to retire.

In addition to auctioning the legendary Schumacher’s racing car, Sotheby’s also introduced 8 rare blue diamonds worth more than 70 million USD. They will be auctioned in Geneva, New York and Hong Kong, but the first, a fancy vivid blue diamond estimated at $11 million to $15 million, will go under the hammer in Switzerland on November 9.
