Unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has predicted that Anthony Joshua will win against Daniel Dubois in their IBF title fight set for September. Usyk, who vacated the IBF belt after not facing Dubois, will be focusing on his own rematch with Tyson Fury scheduled for December 21.
Usyk, who briefly held the title of undisputed heavyweight champion before his recent split-decision victory over Fury, expressed his respect for both Joshua and Dubois but believes Joshua will come out on top. “I think it’s AJ,” Usyk told Sky News. “I respect both of these guys, but I predict Anthony.”
Usyk also addressed his decision to vacate the IBF title, stating that it was a positive move for the sport. He remarked, “It’s good. IBF does not take my belt, I give my belt for Anthony Joshua and Dubois. Because for me, it’s important that my sport, boxing, develops.”
With his focus now on preparing for his high-profile rematch against Fury, Usyk is fully concentrated on their December clash. Meanwhile, he has responded to Fury’s recent social media call-out, reinforcing his commitment to the upcoming bout.
