Dutch police have rejected allegations of racial profiling involving American rapper Nicki Minaj following her recent arrest in Amsterdam, describing the claims as “annoying” and unfounded. Minaj, known for hits like “Starships” and “Anaconda,” was detained and fined by military police at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport after authorities discovered “dozens of joints” in her luggage. The incident occurred just as Minaj was set to perform her second concert in Amsterdam during her Pink Friday 2 World Tour. Due to the arrest, she was unable to make it to her Manchester gig at the Co-op Live arena, leaving 20,000 fans disappointed.
Following the arrest, Minaj took to livestreaming platform Stationhead to share her experiences and express her frustration. She alleged that racial profiling played a role in her treatment, reflecting on how the situation made her feel particularly low and targeted. Minaj described her interaction with police as deeply upsetting, though she acknowledged that there was one empathetic officer among the group. Despite her grievances, Dutch authorities have maintained that the arrest was conducted according to standard procedures and was not influenced by racial bias.
