Amid a war of words on social networks, boxing star Jake Paul announced that he wants to face a “tougher challenge” than former UFC champion Conor McGregor.
Amidst a recent social media feud, professional boxing star Jake Paul has declared his desire for a “tougher challenge” than former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor.
Over the weekend, Paul improved his record to 10-1 as a professional boxer with a knockout victory in the sixth round over former UFC welterweight contender Mike Perry in Florida. This victory has further cemented his status in the boxing world.
In his tenth professional boxing victory, Paul stunned audiences and online fans by announcing his desire to fight the undisputed light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira. Paul seems eager for the opportunity to face the Brazilian knockout artist in a boxing match.
“I want everyone. I love this sport, and he [Alex Pereira] tweeted about wanting to box,” Jake Paul said after his win over Mike Perry. “We Facetimed him right there in the ring, and I said, ‘Hey, can you get out of your [UFC] contract?’”
Paul has been vocal about his ambitions and has responded to Conor McGregor’s accusations of steroid use. McGregor also questioned why Paul’s advisor and business partner, Nakisa Badarian, limited his fights to outside Las Vegas. Paul dismissed the potential fight with McGregor as not challenging enough.
“That guy on Twitter, that guy on the yacht, but that guy doesn’t win fights like I do,” Jake Paul said on his podcast. “He’s not going to fight me. I’ve been saying that for a long time. Conor McGregor is owned by Dana White. He might not get out of his contract, but that’s why he’s hiding. He won’t step into the ring. All that trash talk, but he won’t back it up. I want a tougher challenge than McGregor. F*ck McGregor, I want Alex Pereira, the light heavyweight champion.”
Paul is unwavering in his determination to face top-tier fighters and has set his sights on Alex Pereira. Despite concerns about weight differences, Paul argues that the disparity is minimal and normal in boxing.
“Everyone talks about weight differences, but I weighed 212 pounds in the ring, so that’s a 10-pound difference, which is normal in boxing. Alex Pereira rehydrates up to 240 pounds, so I want someone that, when I mess them up like I did tonight, there are no excuses. Alex Pereira is six foot four, weighs 240 pounds, a world kickboxing champion, and a two-division UFC champion. When I beat him, what can they say? Keep underestimating me, that’s what people have done in every aspect of my life since I was eight years old. I’m unstoppable.”
Jake Paul’s call for a tougher challenge than Conor McGregor showcases his ambition and desire to prove himself against the best in combat sports. With his sights set on Alex Pereira, Paul continues to push boundaries and seek greater challenges, cementing his place in the boxing world.
