Jake Paul Responds Fiercely to Conor McGregor’s ‘Little Dweeb’ Taunt
Conor McGregor, now a part-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), recently praised one of the organization’s top fighters, Mike Perry, who is set to fight YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul this Saturday. During a BKFC press conference, McGregor referred to Paul as a “little dweeb.”
“Look at what has happened to Michael Perry, one of our big stars here,” McGregor stated. “The King of Violence he titles himself, and he’s had such a rise in the sport. Now he’s up against a little dweeb of a thing in a fight this weekend. We’re all rooting for him. This is the real thing.”
Paul, 27, did not take kindly to McGregor’s remarks. In his response, he highlighted his victory over Nate Diaz, a UFC fighter who previously defeated McGregor, and made an unverified claim about McGregor’s alleged drug use.
“Conor McGregor can say what he wants, but he won’t fight me either,” Paul retorted. “So once I knock out Mike Perry, Conor McGregor, let’s run it… but you won’t do it because you know what’s gonna happen.
“You know what I did to Nate Diaz, who you went toe-to-toe with. So Conor McGregor, lay off the cocaine, get in the gym, and start winning fights… and then maybe we can have a conversation.”
Paul defeated Diaz in August 2023 via unanimous decision in a boxing match, marking Diaz’s first boxing bout. This victory came after Paul’s loss to Tommy Fury in February of the same year. Paul, challenging McGregor to a fight, reiterated his readiness to face him in the ring.
McGregor and Diaz’s history includes two intense UFC bouts in 2016, with Diaz winning the first by submission and McGregor taking the rematch via majority decision. Despite Paul’s repeated challenges to McGregor over the years, the Irishman has mostly remained silent until his recent comment.
Paul’s immediate focus, however, is on his fight against Perry in Florida, a bout that was arranged after Mike Tyson, who was originally scheduled to fight Paul, withdrew due to a health issue. This substitution has stirred excitement for Paul’s future matchups, including the potential mega-fight against Tyson.
