On the same day, Argentina’s squad and federation organized an internal ceremony to honor forward Angel Di Maria, who will retire from the national team after the Copa America 2024 final. At this event, Lionel Messi shared a heartfelt embrace with his longtime friend and teammate, marking a poignant moment for the team.
“This Copa America final is certainly Di Maria’s last match in the Argentina jersey. But this is not the end for Messi. We have big plans for Messi in the 2026 World Cup.
