Mike Tyson’s Candid Take on Facing Anthony Joshua in His Prime

Mike Tyson recently shared his straightforward opinion on how a fight between him and Anthony Joshua would have unfolded during Tyson’s peak years. Known for his dominance in the heavyweight division during the late 1980s, Tyson became the undisputed world champion at just 20 years old, while Joshua first claimed his championship at 26.

Although Joshua has not yet reached the same level of undisputed dominance as ‘Iron Mike,’ he is undeniably one of the top heavyweights of his generation and continues to build his legacy. Despite this, the Brooklyn native Tyson has no doubts about the outcome of a hypothetical match against ‘AJ’.

Speaking on his podcast, Tyson not only expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Joshua but also mentioned he would have beaten Joshua’s longtime rival, Tyson Fury.

“I really like him. You know who he is? He’s really a breath of fresh air,” Tyson said. “He’s really clean, he looks really clean, he’s a clean guy, he’s a clean fighter, he’s a good puncher. You just wish the best for him.”

However, Tyson’s competitive spirit shone through as he added, “My ego tells me that nobody could beat me. But you look at him and he looks really good. He looks like a fighter, you know? He looks like he was born to do what he does. Of course, he needs more experience, but that will come with life.”

Tyson acknowledged the skills of both Joshua and Fury, emphasizing the respect he has for their abilities. He admitted that facing them would be challenging, stating, “They [Joshua and Fury] are really good fighters, and I respect all these skills. It would be tough fighting them.”

Tyson’s candid remarks highlight not only his confidence but also his respect for the current generation of heavyweights, recognizing their talents and the evolution of the sport.

Tyson was set to make a return to the ring in a controversial match against influencer Jake Paul. However, the fight was postponed due to Tyson suffering from stomach ulcers. Paul will now face Mike Perry in Tampa. The rescheduled bout between Tyson and Paul is set for November 15, though many remain skeptical about it happening.

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua is gearing up for a significant challenge as he aims to become a three-time heavyweight world champion. He will face fellow Briton Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21, a fight that promises to be a crucial step in solidifying his legacy.
