In 1990, Mike Tyson suffered one of the biggest upsets in boxing history against James ‘Buster’ Douglas. Tyson, who was 37-0 at the time and the reigning undisputed heavyweight champion, was widely expected to defeat Douglas, but Douglas surprised everyone with a knockout victory.
During a sparring session, Tyson was caught by a powerful right hand from his sparring partner, sending him to the canvas. Former super-lightweight world champion Tauyoshi Hamada, who witnessed the incident ringside, described it as a clear knockdown caused by a short-range right hook.
