UFC stars have yet to secure a victory against Jake Paul in the boxing ring, with his current record standing at 5-0 against them. Originally scheduled to face Mike Tyson, who is nearly twice his age at 54, Paul’s bout was postponed due to Tyson’s health issues related to a stomach ulcer. Despite this setback, Paul will still compete on the same date, July 20th, against another formidable opponent, ex-UFC fighter and current BKFC star Mike Perry, in Tampa, Florida.
Jorge Masvidal, the UFC’s inaugural BMF Champion, expressed more enthusiasm for the Paul vs. Perry matchup than he did for the Tyson fight. Masvidal cited Tyson’s health complications as a deterrent to his interest in that bout but indicated he will definitely be tuning in for Paul vs. Perry. Perry, aged 32, has shown tremendous competitiveness in his transition from UFC to BKFC, notably defeating fighters like Michael ‘Venom’ Page and causing former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez to quit inside the ring.
Masvidal’s viewpoint resonates with many in the combat sports community who appreciate Perry’s aggressive fighting style and the potential for an exciting match against Paul.
