Anthony Joshua Excites Fans With Confidence Declaring He Will Break Tyson Fury’s Record

The upcoming bout between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois is poised to break the attendance record at Wembley Stadium for a sporting event.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has announced that the forthcoming fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois is expected to shatter the attendance record at Wembley Stadium for a sporting event. The British pair will face off for the IBF World Heavyweight Championship in a highly anticipated showdown on September 21.

Dubois secured the interim IBF title by knocking out Filip Hrgovic in the eighth round earlier this month, with the Croatian boxer sustaining an eye injury. Despite Hrgovic’s bronze medal win at the Tokyo Olympics, Dubois proved to be too formidable on that fateful night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dubois was officially elevated to IBF World Champion earlier this week when Oleksandr Usyk voluntarily vacated the title, choosing not to face the Greenwich fighter. This development now provides Joshua with the opportunity to become a three-time world champion at the national stadium later this year.

A high-profile all-British fight like Joshua vs Dubois has inspired Matchroom Boxing’s chief, Eddie Hearn, to confidently predict record ticket sales. Currently, Tyson Fury holds the attendance record for a sporting event at Wembley Stadium, with 94,000 spectators watching him defeat Dillian Whyte in April 2022.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, Hearn asserted that this September’s bout will surpass that record, according to Bloody Knockout. When asked by Ariel Helwani about the expected audience size, Hearn stated:

“100,000 people. This is an event within the Riyadh Season, but it’s the fourth time we’re promoting a show at Wembley. Carl Froch vs George Groves was the first, with 80,000 attendees. Joshua vs Klitschko had 90,000, and Joshua vs Alexander Povetkin had 80,000. I expect his excellence to push the number to 100,000. The card is just incredible.”

If the Joshua vs Dubois fight sells out with 100,000 tickets, fans will witness an electrifying main event, even if it might not last long. Both fighters possess tremendous punching power and significant knockout capabilities, with a combined 45 knockouts in their careers.
