When Travis Kelce decides to retire from the NFL, he wants it to be on his own terms. Amid speculation about when he might retire, the three-time Super Bowl champion discussed his retirement plans on the “New Heights” podcast, drawing inspiration from his older brother Jason Kelce, who recently retired after 13 seasons with the Eagles.
“I think you were very fortunate that you were able to go out on your terms and that’s the goal,” Travis Kelce, who is entering his 12th NFL season, remarked. “If I can go out on my terms and not have something happen to my body, like a big-time injury to where I have to step away, that’s the biggest goal in football—to be able to do it on my terms.”
Jason Kelce, a seven-time Pro Bowler and six-time First-Team All-Pro during his career in Philadelphia, made his decision to retire based on his belief that he could no longer perform at the level he desired. His retirement serves as a model for Travis, who aims for a similarly deliberate and controlled exit from professional football.
