Tim Bradley Reveals The Name Of The Only Fighter Who Can Beat Gervonta Davis ‘very Easily’ In Just 1 Round
Gervonta Davis reminded fans, pundits, and rivals of his destructive prowess in the ring by stopping the previously undefeated Frank Martin. After a 14-month layoff, ‘Tank’ returned to form, patiently measuring out Martin and dropping some rounds before unleashing his famous power. This marked the first defense of his WBA Lightweight World Title, and many observers now believe there isn’t a contender or fellow champion in the division who can dethrone him.
However, Hall of Fame fighter turned analyst Tim Bradley disagrees, asserting that three-weight champion Shakur Stevenson has what it takes to beat Davis. Stevenson, who currently holds the WBC belt at 135 pounds, faced criticism for a lackluster performance when he won it against Edwin De Los Santos. Yet, Bradley believes that Stevenson will be inspired to silence his critics in his upcoming bout against Artem Harutyunyan on July 6, especially after Davis’s impressive title defense.
“Shakur already knows what he needs to do,” Bradley told FightHype. “He sees Tank shine and get that attention, but his ultimate goal is to be the best at 135 pounds. That’s his goal. He’s going to come in feeling some type of way, refocused, dedicated as always, and he’s going to show everyone what he’s made of on the night when he returns. He has that in him. He’s cut from a different cloth.”
When asked if Shakur is the lightweight to beat Davis, Bradley had no doubt. “Yeah, he’s the one to beat Tank. Call me a hater, I don’t care. Y’all keep coming at me. Keep bringing that hate, baby, I love it. Yes. He beats Tank. He outboxes him. Very easy. No problem whatsoever.”
Davis is now entering talks for a unification fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko, meaning Stevenson will likely have at least one more defense before a highly anticipated showdown with Davis.
