Devin Haney has insisted that any rematch with Ryan Garcia will be on his terms.
Haney was knocked down three times and defeated by Garcia in their significant super-lightweight showdown. However, it was later revealed that Garcia had failed two pre-fight drug tests. As a result, Garcia’s biggest win has been erased from his record, and he has been banned from the sport for a year.
With the fight result overturned and his record now clear, Haney still seeks revenge for the tainted clash and vows to make Garcia pay both inside and outside the ring.
Speaking to the MMA Hour, Haney said, “I would love my next fight to be against Ryan Garcia if everything is right and all the drug tests are active and clear. But he has to serve his suspension, and we need to sort everything out. Of course, I want to get my revenge. I’m that kind of fighter.”
He emphasized, “The next fight with Ryan Garcia will be on my terms. We caught the guy cheating. So, wherever the fight is, it’s going to be on my terms. I’m not fighting in specific weight classes anymore. I’m fighting at any weight I choose. I love belts because they put you in history forever, but I’ve already achieved that. For what he did, I want to make him pay in the ring and out of it.”
Haney also mentioned his intention to sue Garcia after losing money due to the event. Expressing his frustration, he added, “When you sign a contract, agreeing to be clean for the fight, and then break that promise, it costs others. This whole situation has cost me money. He will pay for everything.”
