Floyd Mayweather Faces Backlash After Claiming to Earn More Than Elon Musk
Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather recently faced a wave of criticism after claiming that he earns more money than Elon Musk.
Currently, Elon Musk is the richest man in the world.
Mayweather made several speeches during his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, one of which was captured on video by reporter Elie Seckbach.
In his speech, Mayweather said: “I will continue to give back to the sport of boxing not just with my time, but also financially, because I have the means to do so.”
“My team, my associates in New York, and my real estate group here today, we are unstoppable.
“In 32 months, I have put myself in a position to make $300 million a month. It all started with boxing.”
When referring to “giving back,” Mayweather was likely alluding to his lucrative deal with CGI Investments, which provides him with a steady source of income. However, the actual figure is more likely to be around $300,000 per month rather than the $300 million he claimed.
Elon Musk – Floyd Mayweather – $3.6 Billion
As former boxer Ishe Smith pointed out, if Mayweather were truly earning $300 million per month, he would be making more than Elon Musk, who was recently named the Richest Man on the Planet by Forbes.
“That would put him above Elon Musk, past Michael Jordan, past Tiger Woods. He would be one of the richest men in the world,” Smith said.
“I’m not saying he’s exaggerating, but sometimes we need to think before we speak.”
“$300 million a month equals $3.6 billion a year. As I said, we need to think before we speak.”

Among the thousands of billionaires on the list, Floyd Mayweather did not rank within the top 2,578 individuals with a ten-figure net worth.
His estimated earnings from boxing exceed $1 billion, an impressive feat in the world of sports over the past 30 years.
However, at present, Mayweather is no longer earning the massive sums of $300 million or $350 million that he once pocketed from fights against Manny Pacquiao or Conor McGregor. Still, making that kind of money in under 40 minutes of work remains an achievement worthy of admiration.
