The Deadline For The Rematch Between Daniel Dubois And Anthony Joshua Has Been Revealed, It Seems Anthony Is Scared.

While a rematch between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua has yet to be officially announced, it is highly likely.

Dubois defeated Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium last month, marking the first successful defence of his IBF world heavyweight title.

‘AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn remains adamant that his protégé wants a second chance, despite some observers urging him to go in a different direction – or even end his professional career.

If the Watford man’s next world title fight with ‘Dynamite’ is to take place, under IBF rules, it would have to take place before April 22.

Article 5.A.2 of the IBF’s heavyweight regulations states that “all optional defences and any other fights by the champion must be concluded at least 60 days before the date of the mandatory defence by the champion”.

Dubois will be announced for the mandatory fight on June 21 in the spring, likely to be the winner of the recently concluded knockout between Agit Kabayel and Martin Bakole.

While there was initial speculation that Joshua might forgo a domestic fight with the 27-year-old and perhaps look to take on the likes of Deontay Wilder or Dillian Whyte, that now seems unlikely.

Matchroom boss Hearn also claimed that Saudi boxing mogul Turki Alalshikh is keen on a second fight with Dubois.

“We have a fight with Riyadh Season. One of our options is to fight Daniel Dubois again, and our contract is with them.

“He [Turki Alalshikh] will deal with Frank and Daniel and make that fight. Terms will have to be agreed with them.

“We have agreed terms, we have the right to rematch Dubois.

“In my meeting with you, you said you want the rematch. AJ will always want the rematch.

“Daniel also wants the rematch.“This is the biggest fight for him and they will love it.”

Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren revealed yesterday that there are still other options for his fighter, but it is believed that a rematch with ‘AJ’ is the most lucrative option.
