After Max Verstappen’s sensational win in Brazil, former German F1 driver Timo Glock did not hesitate to compare the Dutchman to the legendary Michael Schumacher.
Max Verstappen’s incredible comeback in Brazil in the rain was noticed by many in the paddock.
Starting in 17th place, the Red Bull driver quickly rose to sixth place, after a successful first lap and a number of overtakes. Certainly helped by a red flag, the Dutchman then crushed his rival, stringing together one best lap after another.
There was plenty of praise for the future four-time world champion. Comparisons were even made in Germany with seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
Timo Glock, 91 Grands Prix in F1, put Verstappen “on par” with the legendary Schumacher.
“There is still a little time left before the World Champion title,” Glock told Sky Sport Germany for the first time. “But when it comes to qualities in the rain, qualities as a driver, we can put Max Verstappen on a par with Michael Schumacher.”
“Max is incredibly good, what he does in every race is absolutely exceptional. Unique.”
Max Verstappen could be crowned World Champion for the fourth time in a row at the next Grand Prix in Las Vegas. He will then be closer to the record of five consecutive world championships won by Michael Schumacher, in fact, in the early 2000s.
In terms of victories, Verstappen, with his 62nd F1 victory in Brazil, is even closer to the German with 91 victories.
However, this weekend the Red Bull driver broke the record held by Michael Schumacher for the most consecutive days at the top of the world championship, which currently stands at 896 days.
