Ferrari’s Stance On Lewis Hamilton Revealed After F1 Star Toiled At Us Grand Prix

Ferrari are still happy with their decision to sign Lewis Hamilton and confident he’ll thrive despite the veteran enduring a US Grand Prix to forget on Sunday night, it has been claimed.

The 39-year-old crashed out early on after spinning into the gravel, much to his frustration.

Hamilton has struggled to compete for the F1 title in recent years and currently sits sixth in the championship table, with five races remaining.

The Stevenage-born racer will move to Ferrari in 2025 after signing a deal with the F1 side earlier in the year.

With Hamilton struggling in America, some wonder whether he’s past his best.

But Sky Sports pundit Ted Kravitz insists both parties are looking forward to working together – and that a move to Maranello could work in the Briton’s favour.

“Even if Ferrari weren’t winning races, he’d think it’s not [the wrong decision],” he told the Sky F1 podcast.

“It changes doesn’t it from race to race? You can say when Mercedes had a great grand prix but Ferrari [didn’t]. You get races where Ferrari are not doing great and Mercedes are.

“You think ooo Lewis might be thinking what’s going on at Ferrari.

“And the same thing, if you’re Ferrari, you look at a race where Lewis is having a shocker and might think ‘what’s going on with Lewis’.

“The next race, Lewis is doing fantastic and Ferrari will think we’ve won, we’ve got a winner.

“Everything is fine. Listen, I don’t think they are worrying about it.

“Lewis can’t wait to get going with Ferrari – he says that in press conferences whenever we ask him.

“Ferrari can’t wait to have him. It’s all good, they’re looking forward to it.”

Both Hamilton and Toto Wolff were quick to blame the Mercedes vehicle on the team’s underwhelming race.

And while it was a difficult day for the Silver Arrows, it was a brilliant one for Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc won the race, with the 27-year-old securing his third victory of the season.

And Carlos Sainz Jr came second, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in third.

Speaking after his victory, Leclerc said he was hopeful that Ferrari could reel in McLaren in the race for the Constructors’ Champipnship.

“That’s the target,” he said.

“I just really hope that we’re going to do that for the rest of the season and then hopefully we can win that Constructors’ Championship.

“It’s an optimistic target but I would rather see it that way than targeting anything else. We’ll go for it and see where we end up at the end of the season.”
