Jake Paul is set to face Mike Tyson in a boxing match on November 15, but there are fears the bout could be shelved for a second time – and the Problem Child has a message for Iron Mike
Jake Paul has unleashed a stark six-word ultimatum regarding the uncertainty surrounding his bout with boxing legend Mike Tyson.
The fight, originally slated for July, was postponed to November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington after 58-year-old Tyson faced a health setback.
Amidst worries about Iron Mike’s health and age potentially pushing the match back once more, 25-year-old YouTube star-turned-boxer Paul laid down the line: “It’s Mike Tyson or nothing.”
On top of that, he showered praise on Tyson’s condition, affirming: “But first and foremost, he’s healthy and feeling amazing and doing great in camp.”
But if Tyson has to pull out again, financial sense might dictate finding an alternative contender. So who could step into the ring with the ‘Problem Child’?
Here are some possible stand-ins, reports the Express. Tony ‘Bomber’ Bellew, no stranger to speaking his mind, ripped into Paul for pressing on with the clash against Tyson but admitted he’d be up for replacing him for the right paycheck.
Then there’s Chael Sonnen; what could the American Gangster bring to the table? Ex-UFC brawler Chael Sonnen has thrown shade at boxing bigwigs Tyson and Paul this year, accusing Tyson of phony training clips.
He’s cheekily offered himself as a substitute before the fight date tanked, slagging off Paul for not picking him as the stand-in.
Former world super-middleweight king Sakio Bika tossed his hat in the ring after Tyson’s health scare earlier this year. The Cameroon-born Aussie puncher, who last brawled in 2021, is game to trade blows with Paul.
The 45-yea- old tough guy threw down the gauntlet: “If Jake Paul is serious about fighting a former champion, look for someone a lot younger or active within the last decade. I can fight Jake Paul at any weight he wants.”
Roy Jones Jr. if Paul fancies a scuffle with a boxing icon. Jones, 55, tangled with Tyson in an exhibition match in 2020, which also featured Paul and sparked the rumble with Tyson.
When the July fight fizzled out, bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry stepped up, knocking out the trouble in Tampa, Florida. The Problem Child claimed victory with a sixth-round knockout, decking the ex-UFC fighter several times.
After being sacked from the BKFC bare-knuckle promotion by part-owner Conor McGregor following that fight, Perry would presumably be up for a rematch, although it’s doubtful it would draw much attention.
